The Parkroyal on Pickering has always been on top of my hotel list to experience while in Singapore. I was so intrigued by the hotel’s commitment towards being sustainable and eco-friendly, and excited to find out how the hotel live up to the expectation of staying green. The hotel is located in a central area, with just a few-minute walking distance from Chinatown, Clarke Quay, and Marina Bay. Unfortunately, I only stayed at Parkroyal for one night, so I didn’t get to take full advantage of exploring the nearby attractions.

Despite of my late arrival, the minute I got out of my Grab, I was so impressed by the grand entrance of the hotel. Although fully decorated in Christmas spirit, the courtesy of tall ceilings and windows, and full of green plants paired with hardwood floors was extremely refreshing. It felt like I have arrived at an urban oasis, the smell of lush greens reminds me that I am on full vacation mode and nothing can get to me now. I was soon checked into an Orchid Club Room (on the 15th floor), which comes with access to the 16th floor Orchid Club Lounge. As you exit the 15th-floor elevator, you immediately enter an open-air corridor with a breathtaking view to your left. It’s such a pleasant surprise and it completely caught me off guard, I have never stayed at an urban hotel with an outdoor corridor design before. It’s definitely one of my favorite features about this hotel that makes it so unique and different than any other hotels in the city. In keeping with the property's nature theme, the rooms feature an earthy color palette of greens and wood tones. Grassy green headboards and rugs are paired with pale wood-paneled walls that give the effect of a bamboo bungalow. The light-colored wood and the lush terraces outside the window make the room extra relaxing and calming. As part of its commitment being sustainable and eco-friendly, the hotel does not provide any disposable plastic water bottles. Instead, they provide you with a reusable glass bottle that is replenished on a daily basis. As part of my welcoming package, Parkroyal also prepared fresh fruits as well as some local snacks upon my arrival. Sitting next to the window that overlook the city skyline while savoring on some local snacks is the perfect morning combo before my photoshoot begins.

Parkroyal on Pickering offers 367 rooms housed in a high-rise inspired by terraced rice fields. Another must-see landmark at the hotel is the dedicated wellness floor which includes an outdoor infinity pool (insta-famous), poolside bar, cabanas, fitness center, and an elevated garden walkway (see photograph). In the morning, you can also enjoy free breakfast and drinks (6:30AM to 10:30AM) served in the exclusive rooftop Club Lounge. The view, as from the rooms, is stunning and the lounge is filled with natural light all day.

I wish I had more time to enjoy the Parkroyal on Pickering and its amenities. To all you solo travelers out there, I highly recommend this hotel if you like to travel alone. Simply because there’re so much you can do during your staying there, and given its central location, your options to eat, drink and play just became endless.
